Ras Um Sid is considered one of the most exciting local dive sites in Sharm El Sheikh, offering a little bit of everything: diverse topography, the chance to spot pelagic species, and at times, strong currents that add an adventurous edge to the dive.
When currents are mild, Ras Um Sid can be enjoyed as a mooring dive—but divers should always remain aware, as the current can suddenly intensify around the corner, making the return to the boat or shore entry challenging. For this reason, it is often best enjoyed as a semi-drift or full drift dive.
The dive begins along a steep, vibrant wall adorned with impressive Gorgonian fan corals. As you progress, the wall opens into a vast, expansive plateau. The current commonly sweeps divers around the corner and at times pushes them out across the plateau, creating an exhilarating, fast-paced ride.
The plateau is the prime location for spotting large pelagic species cruising effortlessly through the blue—an unforgettable sight and one of the reasons this dive site is so highly regarded among experienced divers.

At Ras Um Sid, divers can expect an exhilarating mix of coastal charm and underwater adventure. Whether you enter from the shore or by boat, this site offers something for everyone.
From the shore, the dive begins along a dramatic vertical wall descending to 30 metres. Turning right reveals a gentle slope covered with hard corals and colourful porite coral in shallower depths. Turning left leads into deeper waters, where a forest of fan corals creates an enchanting landscape. If the currents are favourable, you may reach a plateau adorned with soft corals and pinnacles, perfect for drifting along and spotting marine life. Keep your eyes open for eagle rays, and during summer months, lucky divers may encounter mantas or even whale sharks.
From a boat, Ras Um Sid becomes a thrilling drift dive, allowing divers to explore the underwater plateau with ease. The coral landscape evolves as you progress, featuring porite corals and schools of goatfish in the shallows, creating a dynamic and ever-changing dive experience.
Expect to see a variety of reef inhabitants: colourful reef fish, large pelagics, and majestic rays gliding through the water. The combination of topography, currents, and abundant marine life makes Ras Um Sid a must-dive for both intermediate and advanced divers
