Stretching longer and narrower than its neighboring reefs, Woodhouse Reef delivers a truly unique diving experience. Known for its strong, steady currents, it’s the perfect spot for an exciting drift dive. As you glide effortlessly with the flow, you’ll pass dramatic walls draped in soft corals and vibrant gorgonians.
This site is also a hotspot for spotting pelagic marine life riding the currents — and if you’re lucky, you might catch an elegant eagle ray soaring by or a shy turtle navigating its way through the blue.

Woodhouse Reef is the longest and narrowest of the four reefs in Tiran, stretching for approximately one kilometre. Most dives begin about three-quarters of the way down, as the most stunning section lies at the northern tip of the reef.
A lesser-known canyon can also be found here, marked by a striking red anemone on its upper right side. About 50 metres beyond the canyon, the site opens into a wide ledge. As sunlight pours over this plateau, the colours become truly breathtaking — with vibrant, healthy broccoli corals and elegant fan corals creating a spectacular underwater scene.
Divers should take care not to drift too far north when surface conditions are rough. The area between the end of Woodhouse and Jackson Reef is famously known as “the washing machine,” where colliding currents can create extremely choppy water.
